ATHLETIC
TRAINER
- Dan Parker ATC, CSCS
LIBERTY HIGH
SCHOOL TRAINING ROOM RULES AND PROCEDURES
My name’s Daniel Parker and I am the
newly arriving athletic trainer at Liberty High School. I am a recent
graduate of the Ithaca College Athletic Training and Exercise Science
Bachelor of Science Program in Ithaca, New York. I originally was born
in Columbia, Maryland but have lived in New York for the majority of my
life, so my coming back to Maryland brings a lot of old memories back as
I am kind of returning to my roots.
My
interests on top of prevention, care, and rehabilitation of injuries
include sports nutrition as I have a minor in Nutrition promotion, as
well as dynamic strength and conditioning programs as I am certified as
a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and
Conditioning Association. Some of my more interesting past experiences
in athletic training include working with the Ithaca College basketball
team during the Division III NCAA tournament in the winter of 2008-2009,
and interning with the Auburn Doubledays, a single A minor league
affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, during the summer of 2008.
I
got into the athletic training profession as a result of several of my
injuries playing football and baseball during high school and the
positive experiences I had with my high school’s athletic trainer.
Ranging from internal bleeding to shoulder injuries to several knee
surgeries, not only have these experiences given me a respect for the
athletic training profession, but they have shown me first hand the
range of injuries that high school athletes endure on a regular basis.
Naturally, I take my job very seriously.
I am
looking forward to my time spent here at Liberty High School and am
excited to work with all the coaches, staff, parents, and most
importantly, the student athletes of Liberty High School. If you ever
have any concern about an injury or condition, be you student, parent,
teacher, coach, or concerned fan, please feel free to speak to me in the
athletic training room at Liberty High School, or even to call the
Maryland Sportscare and Rehab Clinic in Pikesville at 410-653-9813
during the morning and ask for me. I’m always happy to address any
concerns you may have.
